Dave, thanks for definitive answer. I didn't realize it was in hard print like that.

This law was enacted in 1992....15 yrs ago. May be time to review? I'd think the farm groups (NCGA, NFB, etc) would be looking into that.

Almost every political ad I've heard on the radio in the past month, whether by Repub, Dem, or Socialist Party, or whatever has included "we need to expand our Illinois corn ethanol market & research......." in their worthless rhetoric. But whatever, one of them will win & before the ink dries on their new business cards, we need to push this.

Again, can we assume that auto mfg came up with this about 30+ yrs ago? That's when ethanol appeared. Maybe they just pulled a number out of the air? Maybe things are different today? I'm guessing that in the early-mid 70s, there was very little computer-controlled in the engine/fuel dept of autos. In fact, a printed circuit was probably still a rarity.
