There is always this debate......   does soybean residue supply N?  I was always taught "yes".  I know you guys in the mid-west say "no".  However, as Brad Law pointed out, you need to supply extra N because of that residue.  So, I look at this as two sides of the same coin: either you use X lbs of N, and add more N for corn stalk residue or wheat residue; or you use Xtra lbs of N, and reduce that rate for soybean N credit. 

Either way you look at it, your N rate needs to be different for corn following wheat vs corn following soybeans.  And I am presuming you did not do that?



Yes I used the same rate on both. Live and learn. Didn't even cross my mind to do different.
