If you can get "mined" gypsum for $40 a ton.... get it and run. And stockpile it if you can. That's pretty cheap. Be careful of the "recycled" gypsum made from wallboard etc. Analysis is nowhere as good as mined gypsum, request lab tests and compare. More times than not gypsum runs double what lime costs from a "retailer" or from a plant. Trucking is always the issue.....
