Subject: RE: Teachers pay ???

Bardstown, Ky
My wife has been teaching for 28 years and makes in the mid 50's. She hasn't received a real raise in over ten years. Yes they get 1or 2 %, but when your insurance goes up 2 to 5%, you are getting no where. When the new school year began this fall and she got her first paycheck, we came to a point we have been anticipating for a couple of years. The amount of her take home was actually less than it had been the year before. This and the constant demands from the administration to do things that have nothing to do with actually teaching the kids math are what have her gladly anticipating retirement. Also while many teachers are out the door the minute the final bell rings, there are many, like my wife who spend many extra hours at the school. Our school lets out at 3:15, and it is rare for my wife to be home before 6:30. This is not part of her contract, she just does it, without complaint, because the kids need something.
