Ok. Interesting. Electric poles here eventually rot off also but it takes many years and the old ones being replaced are also using some black treatment. Maybe some soils or conditions are worse than others. I am sure green treated posts will eventually rot here also as nothing is forever. But the lifespan of posts in the ground here is probably at least a couple of careers long in most cases so there is really no need to spend the extra money here just in case somebody 75 years from now still wants the shed I put up. And if they do it won't be hard to create a new foundation for the building to sit on. I do agree that there are better alternatives out there, it's just that "here" it makes economic sense to use treated posts.
