It's never become worthless in any historical event I'm familiar with. Guess there is always a first time. The French did make it punishable by death (guillotine) to even price anything in other than Assignats (their paper currency). To only even state an alternative price in gold, silver, barter or another country's currency ----------- schlishhhhh ------- off with the head. So I guess technically by government decree in France at that time gold would have been only of jewelry value perhaps. But the reality was otherwise. Even under penalty of death, the Assignats were loosing value so fast people bartered and used other means to maintain their buying power. So if you see Obolla giving an executive order for some guillotines from France........ beware. New currency controls are about to be put in place. John
