Unfortunately, I am not aware of any investment vehicle that is both safe and liquid as CDs are.

Can your parish possibly invest into a larger pool of money with your diocese to obtain possibly higher returns and still maintain access to money when you need it?


Our diocese has cemetery funds invested in a combination of mutual funds (stocks, treasuries, and bonds). And there is a disclaimer indicating that principal may not be protected. Call me a nervous nellie, but that doesn't make me comfortable.

We've got the money spread around in CD's in various local institutions as well...trying to spread out our risk.
