SEIL | Set the record straight Tara. A piece of flat black dirt that would bring 10k per acre today will be worth what in three yrs, 10 yrs, 30 yrs.? My opinion 12k, 25k, 100k.
I bought a 38 acre tract of land (16 tillable) Sept 21 of last year for 4500 at an auction. Harvested a free soybean crop worth 11k. Grew a 214 bpa corn crop this year and sold it Oct 2 (private treaty) for 5000. Essentially made about 40k in one year. I realize it was a somewhat unique situation but land is not backing off in my neighborhood and I don't believe it will any time soon.
