I'm not surprised at all to hear about the fate of your dryland corn. When we were in Wichita during the latter part of July it was raining good but you could tell the corn was too far gone. It looked like it had a heck of a start because it was tall and even across the field but the leaves were fired clear to the top. I'm kind of surprised to hear its making any grain. It looked more like a sileage project. I suppose some of what we saw along side highway 160 was in worse shape than surrounding areas but we did notice this problem for a very long stretch. If I remember right you said you are north of Pratt. As good as some of the milo looked though back then I bet that 15" of rain you are talking about will push those yields up there with some of your irrigated corn! I can just imagine what it feels like to harvest 20 and 30 bpa corn on one side of the fence while bringing in 100+ bpa milo on the other. What a AHA moment!
