Morris, IL | I can't see the sidedressing P and K. They are immobile nutrients, meaning they don't move much if at all. Something like 1/4" a year sticks in my mind from somewhere. Nitrogen and sulfur are mobile nutrients, i believe they are only ones out of the 17 essential nutrients. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plant_nutrition They can move in soil with water meaning they can also move downward with water.
To me the biggest joke in modern farming is fall applied nitrogen for entire crop needs. That needs to be a spoon feed deal because it is mobile. Immobile nutrients don't move, ours soils can spoon feed it to corn plant for us and do lot better job then we could as long as you maintain good fertility levels.
