MN | Right now, I have 1ft/hd (holsteins) and am feeding once a day. I never see any pushing at all. They seem content to lay in the cornstalks and wait their turn. This might change once they are 1000+lbs but we'll see. I think I am going to try closer to 9-10in/hd with my next group. Garvo, I think what happens is people run out of space...I adapted my building to work for bunk feeding so I have too much building for my bunk space. I am at 90-100ft2/head right now. My building is 120x45 with ~50ft of concrete. I am toying with the idea of pulling the feed bunks out, pouring a curb and just feeding on the concrete. Then I can use the bunks on my new building (when I build it). | |
