Nevada, Iowa | I have had decent luck with a cornstalk bale, diesel fuel and a leaf blower. Grass hay would not work, don't know about straw. Either build the brush around the bale or try to shove the bale in /under as far as possible. Soak with fuel and touch it off. Leaf blower to suit your needs. Once you get a spot going, you'll have to keep poking and stoking with loader or whatever. I usually burn mine the next spring, there hasn't been any dirt in them, all saw cut. If there is a lot of dirt, you may be farming around them for a couple years. I have had very good results three years running. Mostly mulberry and the sap will be boiling out of them after sitting for four months. | |
