NCND		Got into cattle later in life, even thou my dad had 300 head my whole life, I was barely ever around them. The cows are 6 miles from home and wasn't allowed to take time off from school when it came time for working them. Well when I got a chnce to buy my own farm, it came with pasture and hay ground. The only way it was going to pay is if I got some cows and that is what I did, 20 share cows, I still think that was the happyest day of my dads life. Six years later I own free and clear 70 cows and three bulls. My dad who is 69 will die with a large herd, there is no way he will give up cattle. He has a way with cattle only few have, fear of a cow, never. Witch gets me alot of "you can't chase a cow standing on the fence". Well dear dad there not the Herfords you grew up with anymore, there 1600# + black cows. The herfords wouldn't run, they would close there eyes and push threw. I have gotten alot better by just watching what my dad does, never excited, very deliberate in his actions, and very patient. I don't think anymore that it helps to yell, only makes the cattle more nervous. If I can only learn 1/4 of what my dad knows about cattle I myself will be very sucsessful. Sorry it turned into a me story.
