Texas/New Mexico Stateline
Hedge against inflation. And should provide an income stream after it is paid for. I don't care about if it "will pay for itself". All I care about is if I can comfortably pay for it. Cash in savings is losing value every day. Long term land will appreciate.

Retirement savings. Just like an IRA. After 40 years of inflation I should be able to rent it or sell it to support us in our old age. Worked for my Great Granddad and Granddad. Hope it will work for me too.

Security. I rent most of my ground with very very secure agreements, and I don't think I will lose the land suddenly, but it is still not as certain as my farming my own.
