Much of the land we (wife and I) have purchased through the years had been in our family at one time or another.  I would have purchased it anyway but it having been in the family made it that much more meaningful to me.  Bought my first piece of land when I was 21 years old.  It was a struggle the first 10-15 years after I purchased  it, and other land, but it paid off well in the long run.  Buying that first piece of land is the most difficult but is also the most rewarding when you look back a few years down the road.
