The P-pump is dependable power house.
and the 5.9 with the VP44 Pump is a good system as well!
The only Major issue with the VP44 is if the fuel transfer pump quits, Cummins intended for the pump to pull the fuel from the tank, through the filters, Chrysler, put a vane transfer pump into the fuel supply line...... which then the vane pump would quit, blocking the fuel line, causing the pump to fail !!
We have a dually with the VP44 and we were changing the fuel filter an found it not working. We replaced the pump with a replacement that had a check valve in a by-pass, this allows the VP44 to pull fuel from the tank. We also checked with a performance shop, and we were able to get a fitting that allowed us to place a guage under the dash showing how many PSI the fuel is under at the inlet to the VP pump!
An, the quad doors allow for much easier access to storage in the rear seat/floor pan. we use the rear seat much less in our GM farm truck, due to this!
Hope this helps | |
