Subject: Re: ceiling light /dimmer switch ?

I'm not 100% sure on why but this happened to me once when I installed a ceiling fan. Ours said the same thing about not using a dimmer switch but we used one anyways. The bulbs that came with ours were probably the same 40 watt bulbs as you got. We had some 60 watt bulbs from the one that we took out & we installed them & the light didn't work. Here's where the odd part came in. After installing the 60 watt bulbs & finding that the light didn't work, I thought long & hard about why it wouldn't work, they should of at leasgt came on dim. Then I remembered that note saying "Do Not Use a Dimmer Switch", since I had an extra switch in the garage I decided to take out the dimmer switch & install the regular switch. I'll be damned if the light didn't work with the 60 watt bulbs that we had in it.. Like I said in the beginning, I'm not sure if the switch is holding you back from using your 60 watt bulbs but we have had the 60W bulbs with a regular switch in ours now for over a year & nothing has happened... Worth a try if you want to try it.. Good luck..
