i think they went to small base bulbs because they max out at 60 watts. probably because someone started using 3-5 300 watt bulbs in them and overloaded the wiring.
i went to small base daylight cfl's in the fans. i like plenty of light, and then i can get more light output without exceeding the watt capacity of the fixture.
most cfl's you cant use a dimmer.
ceiling light /dimmer switch ?
