UP / Thumb of Michigan | I'm not a real seasoned Hawaii traveler, haven't been there in too long. I will say that my wife and I spent 19 yrs on Waikiki over the course of 5 days about 21 yrs ago. I can still look back and remember how much I loved almost everything in Hawaii and how much I hated the 5 days we stayed in Honolulu. I don't care how old you are, its a must to go to Pearl Harbor. After that (and no disrespect intended to anyone from Honolulu) ANY other place in Hawaii is preferable to Honolulu. I actually felt like I was in Detroit a lot of the time except that there aren't as many Japanese in Detroit. There aren't even as many Japanese cars in Detroit as there are Japanese vacationers in Honolulu. Well, Honolulu was warmer- I'll give it that. The whole chain of islands has the same body of water at the beach as Waikiki, and there are a lot of beaches to see that don't include Waikiki.
By the way, I really, really liked Hawaii. I didn't care much for Honolulu. In case you missed it. | |
