Subject: RE: Milking parlor options

Greencastle, Pa.
Kinda hate to say this but I'm going to any way! The cash flow off of 40 cows is not [in actuality] going to build much of anything. That's the sad truth of it even if you are debt free.
At 80lbs milk/day per cow that only adds up to about $11/12,000 a month at current prices of 100/wt milk. $ for living and monthly bills/expenses is just going to eat a very large hole in that income leaving very little for any thing else. This is only my opinion as a dairyman for 28 years and being around dairying all my life.I have not milked in ten years but do keep myself very informed as to what is going on in the dairy industry.
