I don't understand the rationale behind selecting optional unit crop insurance?

Subject: To Simplify, an example


SD/ND/FL		My expenses = $1,000,000

Revenue guarantee = Total on all acres at $950,000 at 75% optional units (cost $30/acre)

Revenue guarantee = Total on all acres at $1,000,000 at 80% enterprise (cost $30/acre)

I guess I like to look at the whole operation because that's what matters to me at the end of the day. With that goal stated, optional units make no sense to me. That's why we have choices! To each their own!
