A few years ago we had a hail storm come through and slam some fields and didn't have hail insurance. It was the one year I had enterprise units. Would have gotten a payment on those affected fields but since we were working on a farm average, I got nothing. Highly dependent on your weather, soil types, climate difference, geographic spread and personal comfort level of risk.
