I feel the same way. If you going to sell seed, fertilizer, application, equipment, then do that, don't farm. Why would I want to buy from you. Too help you buy and rent more farms. Makes no sense to me

I sell seed and farm and all of the guys that buy from me are local guys guess you should tell them to stop buying from me because I'm going to take all their land away. Sorry saying something like that is a bit out there. I sell to local guys and they know me and know my farming operation, have I rented ground you bet did I check to make sure they either A) werent the current renter B) wasn't their families C) they no longer wanted to farm that piece of ground... you bet. Sorry for wanting to come back and farm but there wasnt a golden egg waiting for me so I decided to diversify myself by starting my own business to help other farmers in their seed selection. They know they can and they have, called me up at 11 pm needing an extra bag or two of seed (hadn't bought any from me for that year) so they could finish that field they were on. I thrive on helping out the smaller guys because they are the ones that are usually more willing to work with a new guy. I'm not going to run out bid them out of their ground, I actually stepped away from being able to rent an extra 200 acres because a guy I have sold seed to (15 bags of corn) was the current farmer and the landlord had heard about how I operate and wanted to see if I was interested. Also it's funny you say that because I much rather listen to someone that is using what they are selling before pushing it on other people instead of the "sales guy that doesnt farm" because that's what is going to get "sales guy that only sells" the biggest bonus, and that's a huge advantage for me because I see what it does from the time I plant it to the time it is harvested, I've lost business because so and so heard this one variety was amazing from the coop but wanted to buy from me but when I told him I didnt like the way it worked on my fields he decided against it and bought from his normal supplier.

Edited to note: that I know not all sales people are like me or ones I know, and there are ones that do sell seed/chem/fert that will outbid their own customers on ground ect and I like to say keep doing that because that's what helped me gain about 5 new customers this year, and that's why I conduct my business the way I have listed instead of the way they do.
