Soil tests are naturally different because the soil types are quite different - CEC's are not something that change easily. This is ground that has been fertilized regularly before I farmed it so it's generally not lacking the big nutrients. I know of cases where base saturation ratios were so far off that adding lots of lime year after year resulted in a pretty dramatic change to the soil - went from tight/pondy to a little more loamy and penetrable soil (relatively speaking). Of course this was a case where things were grossly out of balance and I'm not in that boat at all.
