Buying Condo grain storage

I don't see much of an advantage to the condo storage. You still have to sit in line to dump, you're still at the mercy of their hours of operation, you get charged if you want to haul it somewhere else meaning they will be a little less than anyone else for their instore bid.

With on farm storage, the elevator is always open, you're always the next one to dump, no waiting, open 24/7 if you choose to. Any market if fair game coming out of storage. Any broker, any ethanol plant. You keep all your options.

Most of all I think you can probably build grain storage for that much or less if all you want is a bin with a fan and aeration floor.

I think "condo" storage is just a new buzz word elevator mgrs are using to try and get you to build their elevators for them.

Just my opinion. Our on farm storage paid for itself in the first 4 years we used it.
