Subject: RE: Reconditioning a pond

Tuscola, IL
Where my dad lives the pond has been cleaned out twice since it was built in the 1950. The first time they used dozers to push the muck out over the bank. It is unbelievable how far that muck spread out. Dad let that dry out the rest of the summer and through the end of harvest. He then loaded it into 2 ton trucks and dumped it in a wash in one of the fields. Of course then had lot of mess to clean up and resow grass, a lot of work. The second time it got cleaned out, a dozer pushed the muck to one corner and a high hoe dipped it out and loaded onto tandems with sludge locks on the end gates. Hauled it one mile to dump in low area of field. Way less work and mess and got it done in one day.
