I think you will be surprised how cool a well insulated shop will stay anyway. We just heated ours last winter and insulated with 6" in the walls and whatever code was in the ceiling (I forget exactly). Though this record breaking heat wave (6 all time high in the last two weeks just north of St. Louis Mo.) it has stayed down right nice in the shop. Granted the humidity is low and we keep the doors closed. Just my observation. If I were to try and cool, I would look into attaching a few fans to some tile line buried underground. I know that has been discussed on here before.
