This would be one of the tricks that 3 – 4 four of my mentors taught and it has worked well!

so what ( trick )  do you pull when you have a Calcareous soil situation 

75% to 80% Calcium Base saturation with a soil PH of 7.6 to 8 ?

2 to 4% Magnesium and a .5% K base saturation % 

I certainly would not think pellitized lime would be an option.
