Subject: 3 phase converter ?????

Southeastern Kansas
Our farm has single phase and we use a phase converter to make 3 phase power to run a 20 hp bin fan. The 40 hp converter I have is over 30 years old. It has a motor to the side with a box containing a bunch of "transformers I think". Electrician come by today with something called a pump master with a frenic 5000 Pll box inside which I think is an invertor. There is no motor frame to be found. Has the technology changed so much that there is no longer a motor involved? This looks nothing like the phase converters I am familiar with or can see on the internet. Someone be kind enough to set me straight before this guy gets here in the morning to install it. Sorry for the ignorance. Thanks for you input.
