| Well, we must've had some special chickens. Ours dressed an average of 5.9lbs in about 7-1/2 weeks, the largest dressed over 7.5lbs. Don't know about live weights, but the biggest might have been close to 9.
I'll bet they got stirred up more than 4 times a day. Everyone around here checked on the numerous times throughout the day. Mainly for the novelty of it, my parents raised around 100 layers when I was a kid, and they enjoyed checking in on them. Really, I think it was to see if the kid and grandkids were doing it right!
I'm going to start running some corn through our roller mill for them, and mixing my own feed to save a bit on the cost. Commercial broiler feed gets expensive!
