Alton, Ia | And the main factor behind at large selection bids are how much money will be spent by the fans in Memphis, Nashville, San Antonio, etc. The larger the fan base, the more likely they get a bid. Down the list is team quality. Remember how bad it was before the NCAA instituted the 6 win rule?
What Iowa "should" do instead of avoiding the game with ISU, would be to drop the pre-season warm ups, ie Tenn Tech, ULM, etal. But actually playing tough teams from your own state may boot them from bowl consideration, so they don't seem to have the guts to do that.
