Vincennes, Indiana | I have a 90acre field of corn that has been nothing but a pain all year. Took three tries to be able to finally get it planted (rained every time I tried to work ground). Finally got it all planted and sprayed. Came up great looked to be a good crop. Then it rained, and it rained, and it rained some more. Was planted June 3-4, and since then has had over 9" rain on it and been in standing water for 3 weeks of it's life. This is the 5th year of corn on corn and we have had good success with it.... until this year.
The first three pictures are from a week ago when I first started to sidedress (before guess what... I got rained out by a 2.5" rain). Went back in today to try and finish up and it looks to be greening up nicely, but finding lesions on the leaves now (bottom 3 pictures). Anything I can do? What would you all do? Most corn is between knee and waist high. Though the few high spots in the field (about an acre total) are over head high. How much N would you put on this late in the season? Especially knowing that the non stressed part of the field is so much farther along?
Any help, suggestions, best guesses are welcome.... Thank you all in advance.
