Subject: RE: Sand Spike Water Well

ILL John has mentioned using soap of keep the holes from filling with dirt while driving it in the ground. Sounds like a good idea. Those holes can fill with dirt/sand when driving, and it takes a while to pump enough water to clean the screen. May be worth a try. Cannot hurt. Sometimes we had to pump for nearly a day for it clear up. The flow gets better after pumping.
Mentioned also, shooting a 22 cal rifle to help withe rust. It works sometimes, and sometimes less than desired. Depends on how much rust is down there. Cannot tell from above the ground. We have pulled points to clean. Not an easy job somtimes and time consuming. Have seen rust 4"-6" balls at the end of the point. We have poured muratic acid in points. It will do the best job. Need to run a hose to the bottom of the point, and using a funnel at the top pour a gallon of acid down to the bottom of the point. Immediately cap the pipe for at least a half day. Carefullly then uncap the pipe, and pump for a few hours. Works fairly good, most of the time better than the rifle
