I think you have to consider WHERE such yields are made.
I believe these yields are on drylands down south with 90-100 day corn.
Assuming this, I believe 1.5 to 2 crops/year are possible.
Up north where high yield corn is produced only 1 crop/year is possible!
With high yield crops, you also need to feed the crop so higher fertilizer rates, more chemicals, more care to the plant, etc.....
