north west arkansas | Well I don't know now anything about farming in IL so I have to talk about what I know. I was born in Ia and all my family farms there and I had the opportunity to farm there myself, but I really can't see with land costs how I could make it work. I put a crop in for less than what most Ia land rents for and even though it might out yield mine alot of times not buy alot. I am not no genius but I just don't see how northern corn can compete when it comes to the basis. This year my crops are bad but next year I may average 150 corn and 80 wheat and 50 beans. Only thing I can say is compare it to cattle. Some northern areas cattle are alot higher than they are here but if you go west and south say 700 miles cattle are much cheaper than here, but I bet everyones making the same money. | |
