Northeast Louisiana | There is a lot of corn planted down here, don't know if 233% increase, but very possible. Keep in mind that we're probably 90% planted, if not more, so depending on when USDA numbers were compiled, a lot of the southern acreage should be pretty firm. A lot of the increase in the Delta is irrigated cotton ground, should have pretty decent yeilds if no early hurricanes blow through. Around here (northeast LA) harvest begins in late July/early August, farther south it will be early July. A lot of the corn in Louisiana and southern AR/MS/TX is usually harvested by the time hurricanes come, but with so many more acres, it will take longer to get it out.
Even with large southern increases though, it's the I states that will set the market. If farmers in the corn belt back off on corn or weather prevents planting, that will cause a lot more impact on the market than we will down south.
