NW Missouri | +1 Go with whatever brand has the best service in your area. Any brand can get the job done, but you will need help at some point. I would strongly consider buying from your local dealer who will help you set up and get comfortable with the system, even if it costs a little more to do that. You can always buy used stuff on your own later on when you want to add features (trust me, you will want to).
The main system I use is Agleader RTK, but my combine does have factory integrated Trimble WAAS. I much prefer the Agleader system, but it is also 5 years newer, and the screen is much bigger, so that might be why it has more options and is easier to run. I've only ran JD autosteer once so I can't really comment on it.
My vote is that you absolutely need RTK for cultivating. If your state has a free CORS network, you can go from WAAS to RTK with minimal recurring costs once you get the equipment and unlocks. There's a bunch of information on here about how to do that if you search. My only recurring cost is $25 a month for a data plan and I shut it off in the months I don't need it. | |
