| So where are these $125k-whatever opportunities? I am currently doing all this and more on a 4k acre irrigated/dryland farm/absentee owner and unfortunately not making this and no option to farm land on my own or partnership on anything now or in the future. There are some other benefits like housing etc but its cooked in the salary. Good opportunities are hard to find and being able to work into the possibility of owning or partnership would be a great way to tie a guy into the operation...for some reason most guys only look out for themselves and don't understand that a little scratch on the back can make all the difference in the world. And definitely not too much help with only 2 of us and some part time seasonal help and we are busy year round as we do all of our own spraying/harvesting/planting and we can hold all of our own grain. Also purchase all chemicals/fertilizer/marketing and do the equipment deals...everything but write the checks and crop scout. | |
