Illinois | I know it seems like when this question gets asked on here, everyone wants to jump to the $200K+ salary, but I don’t think it needs to be this high. There are tons of jobs with equal or more demands and responsibility for less money than that. A 2500 acre operation is not all that large (assuming traditional midwestern crops), and he’ll have a lot of freedom and flexibility with that position. Don’t expect him to be there 24/7, and I think $125K plus normal benefits like health insurance and retirement is sufficient. Have clear expectations and a means to communicate performance on a regular basis to make sure neither of you get frustrated to the point of unhappiness. | |
