Subject: RE: Is solar on farm ground really that bad?

The main problem that I have with commercial scale solar, the way it's being done, is that they are moving absolutely massive amounts of dirt to level fields for these solar installations. If they were just going in and putting service lines and setting posts, it would be a different deal. But the way that these are being leveled, and clay exposed and topsoil essentially stripped away and gone, these fields will never be productive for agriculture again. Locally there was some formerly strip mined ground put into solar, and that was probably actually the best use for those acres. I can think of several more sites that meet that description. But stripping prime farmland is kinda problematic.
