My personal opinion is not a popular one, and maybe not even realistic or possible. But here goes… this is the greatest scheme ever thought up by those that want control. Farmers are begging everyone in their county to vote to restrict (by law) their freedom to do as they see fit on their land. It starts with solar, it ends with farming practice restrictions brought on by the local public because it’s “unsightly” and “harms the natural landscape”. And we come here and whine about regulations that we started the snowball on. There is never an instance where we should willingly and voluntarily ask for restrictions on private property
There has been talks of windmills and solar farms in this area. I have warned and cautioned farmers about putting regulations in place to stop the windmills and solar panels. Mainly because what will be next that people won't like. If you own ground you have the right to do with it as you please. That may be a gas station, windmill, pig barn, grain bin setup, junk yard, feedlot, solar farm, Morton shed, etc....
Several think county wide zoning is the answer. I tell them that would be the worst thing ever. It's kind of nice to build something without having to get a permit. |
