Looking to get opinions on someone with the following job description:
Essentially run a 2500 acre farm:
Plant corn, spray crops, manage/teach part time employees, mow roadsides, all aspects of harvest. I want them to scout my non gmo beans as im tired of doing it and timing is critical for keeping non gmos clean.
Meet with chemical/fertilizer retailers and do 90% of the contact/planning with them. I expect this person to go through my chemical programs with a fine tooth comb to find savings. I really dont know much about chemicals anyway and dont care to learn. I also want them to call the grain elevator when switching fields at harvest, stuff like that. We haul about 100k in the winter as well. Several smaller bins.
The only thing I want to do is pay the bills, run the combine, and haul seed to 2 planters in the spring. I cant drive a semi, it intimidates me too much, really most farm operations do except for running the combine. I'll help scoop out a bin sometimes if im around in the winter.
How much is this person worth in your opinion? So what did u do before this ??
This person is going to take over the farm in a few years but I get the feeling they are unhappy at the moment. |
