North Central Kansas | We have a hydraulic Ruup. Had a Foremost before that and a Big Valley before that. Big Valley was a manual catch gate. It worked ok but I worked cattle alone a lot back then so it didn't work great. It got crushed by a lean to shed in a wind storm. The foremost worked good. Self catch was good. Neighbor has a Filson. I lost a fingernail in it pushing calves into it. When our numbers jumped up we bought the hydraulic chute. If I was going to buy another hydraulic I would buy the BZ Welding. Otherwise the Foremost It is a little better design. on the gates. I feed my chute with a Winkel Calf tub. It really reduces the amount of work involved with pushing calves into the chute. We have a regular tub but the calf processor tub allows you to not have to be in with the little kickers. https://www.winkelmfg.com/calf-processor | |
