North Central Indiana | I have built 2, a 23' X 12' and a 24' X 14'. They were made for existing buildings, so I made a freestanding frame to fit inside the rough opening with the outside frame members going all the way to the frost footer (3'). Poured about a yard of concrete around each leg. By doing it this way, there was not much load on the building. Made the door from 2"x2"x1/4" box tube around the outside and 1 1/2"x1 1/2"x1/8" cross members to attach siding to. Made a truss across the bottom so it wouldn't sag when open. Bought some 1 1/2" X 60" cylinder and a electric/hydraulic powerpack from Burdens. Not a real bad job, just need to pay attention to keepin everything square and remember the high school geometry and trig to get the angles and attachment points right for the cylinders. | |
