Washington, Kansas & Lincoln, Nebraska | The pickup one buys is more a choice of personal preference than anything else, save maybe dealer service.
That said, personally I'm a Ford man. I have a 6.4 in an '08 F-350. It has 50,000 miles on the clock and has had but a few minor issues, all covered under warranty and handled expediently.
My personal experience with Dodge and GM truck is limited and was years ago when I drove school bus, so isn't all that pertinent to today, but here it is. The GM busses in our fleet had weak engines. One even threw a rod at less than 50,000 miles. The Dodge chassis didn't have proper brakes and Chrysler couldn't seem to come up with a remedy.
None of the newest diesel trucks are going to get great fuel economy because of the polution controls in place. |
