E. CO, exactly half way between NE and OK | We built this 5' tank with a float valve in it to water cattle from a 1200 gallon tank on a trailer. We sit the tank inside the pasture fence and the water trailer on the outside. We connect the two tanks with a 1 1/4" plastic hose. We watered around 35 cows with it.
About two years ago, we took in our neighbors cattle on one field, about 85 head. We used this tank but he brought an eight foot tank and we used a siphon hose between the two tanks. We used the water from a spring I have about half way up the hill. I hooked the spring and the tank up with a black plastic pipe and the water got as hot as horse p***. The cattle learned to drink water early in the morning.
