| I changed the oil in the Cat 277c skid steer this week. It wasn't terrible but it was not pleasant either. The worst part is that once I removed the plate to get to the oil plug, I had to remove the dirt and of course the dirt was caked in greasy oil. That made a mess. Then there was so little room by the filter, that I couldn't use the filter wrench very easily, so I took a long screwdriver and a hammer and used that to loosen it. Now that I know that trick, it will be easy next time. The main reason I hate servicing it is the mess- I use it in dirt a lot and it has just enough hours that there is oil residue there. Now that I have ranted about that oil change, I have to say I really like the skid steer.
I also changed the oil in our Ford this week. Ford definitely knows how to hide their filters. We just got a 3.5 ecoboost and that filter is definitely a reach and twist to get to. The Chevys I have had seem to be easy to remove.
