I would say a good size Meijer would be in excess of $100,000 per day? 500 customers x $200 avg grocery (think Meijer!).

So, they are saying they can't add any employees for $30,000 per DAY...not year...but per DAY??

Somethings not right here. Yes, these self-checkout places need to either add employees or post SWAT team members near the self-checkout scanners & leave a couple bodies on the floor for an example.
