MO | Is there a simpler (i.e less expensive) way to start yield mapping with a John Deere 9670sts? The combine itself has what it needs (previous owner yield mapped, ran auto steer, etc), however we do not have a John Deere globe or monitor and I do not have much interest at this point paying for it. None of our other equipment can utilize the guidance systems as it is, and I cannot justify the money on a John Deere monitor and globe for just mapping alone.
The combine already 'speaks' the information, as we can see live yield when we go through the field during harvest. Is there any product currently that a guy could use to 'listen' and record that data? It doesn't need to show me a live feed. All I am looking for is a way to go back after harvest and look at yield maps. I would think even an ipad could record the data if it had a way to 'hear' what the combine is saying, but I am no expert.
