Subject: Cataract surgery

I am going to have cataract surgery. I presently need bifocals for 20/20 vision. I have three options, cataract surgery with non corrective lens implanted(health insurance covers since deductible has been satisfied for calendar year), cataract surgery with corrective lens implanted for distance($4200 extra and will need glasses for reading) or cataract surgery with trifocal corrective lens implanted($8200 extra and would need glasses maybe for reading small print). Financially all options are viable for me other than I feel the $8200 extra is a ripoff. At first I was going to go with the $8200 option but if I occasionally need glasses I may just go with plain cataract surgery and continue to wear glasses to have optional vision at all times. I have gotten used to wearing glasses so getting rid of glasses for most of the time is no real big gain I feel. What have others done and what has your experience been? I am 70 years old.
